You told me you wanted an indie lingerie gift guide. I wrote one. Then I realized the woman with the final word on lingerie (Cora Harrington of The Lingerie Addict Blog) posted her own 2015 Ethical Lingerie Holiday Shopping Guide on December 2nd. (Two days before this post)
It goes without saying, she killed it with her post, so I thought I would do a quick roundup of her most useful articles for those new to the lingerie shopping game, as well as those looking to upgrade their collection.
I’m a big fan of lingerie being an empowering aspect of self-love rather than something you only wear for someone else. I discovered Cora a few years ago through the beautiful and terrifying Arabelle Sicardi. (The first to suggest lingerie and lipstick and good music while vacuuming to survive a panic attack)
No matter how you are planning on enjoying your indie lingerie, I hope you find this article a great resource.
Let’s start out with the number one problem I always hear as an excuse to not purchase from an indie brand: Too Expensive
Lingerie Pricing is a Feminist Issue via The Lingerie Addict’s Tumblr page has been sitting in my favorites folder for ages.
It’s an important read – especially if you aren’t sure what really goes into the making of our undergarments and who is really paying the price for our cheap clothing. (Hint: Women of color overseas)
How Often Should You Wash Your Bra? is something I admittedly had no idea about. Luckily, I do wash mine once every few weeks – but that increases depending on the time of the year. This article will give you the average bra cleaning schedule and some great snappy come-backs for any ignorant people in your life whom might try to shame you about your lingerie washing habits.
As a full busted lady, I was stoked to find this article listing The 10 Best Bra Brands for Full Bust & Plus Sized Women. Not only does she list some killer shops, she also goes into detail explaining the important difference between “Full Bust” and “Plus Sized” in the lingerie world.
In my pre-chronic days I loved a great corset, wearing one made me feel incredibly powerful. Cora from The Lingerie Addict has a list of 50 Places to Buy Your Next Corset If you haven’t had a chance to invest in one, I highly recommend going to get sized and trying some out.
Another great list is Cora’s favorite comfort bras – she’s listed five them. I’m big on comfortable lounge bras, so I love this comfy bra list.
Did you find any pieces you plan on investing in? A corset catch your eye?
Let me know in the comments!
A big thank you for reading!
